Writing Skill – About Notice (How to write Notice,
Notice Format)
What is a Notice?
A
notice is an official communication in a written or printed form to reach
certain persons. The target of a notice may be the students of school/college
or the members of a club/society. A notice is usually affixed on the notice
board by a school, college and organization to announce an event, celebration
or some important information. A notice may be to give information to a larger
audience also. For that purpose Public
Notices are printed in newspapers, or magazines.
Important Points to be kept in mind:
(1)
Notice is always written in a box.
(2)
Notice is generally short, to the point and written in formal language/official
langauge.
(3)
Notice should contain all the relevant information in a few words.
(4) The
Name of the organization/institution is written in capital letters. (As GSSS
JATHLANA)
(5) It
should have the title, but not in the form of sentence. (as SUMMER CAMP)
(6) The
Date must be written. (as 5th May, 20…)
(7) A
notice should have all the details related to the event. It must have an answer
to what, when, where, why, how.
(8) If
there is the last date for a function, drama, contest, etc., it must be clearly
mentioned.
(9)
Notice usually announces upcoming events/celebrations so future time is used
while writing a notice.
(10) It
should have the name, designation and signature of the issuing authority for
example- the secretary/incharge, etc.
