What is a Notice?

A notice is an official communication in a written or printed form to reach certain persons. The target of a notice may be the students of school/college or the members of a club/society. A notice is usually affixed on the notice board by a school, college and organization to announce an event, celebration or some important information. A notice may be to give information to a larger audience also. For that purpose Public Notices are printed in newspapers, or magazines.

 

Important Points to be kept in mind:

(1) Notice is always written in a box.

(2) Notice is generally short, to the point and written in formal language/official language.

(3) Notice should contain all the relevant information in a few words.

(4) The Name of the organization/institution is written in capital letters. (As GSSS JATHLANA)

(5) It should have the title, but not in the form of sentence. (as SUMMER CAMP)

(6) The Date must be written. (as 5th May, 20…)

(7) A notice should have all the details related to the event. It must have an answer to what, when, where, why, how.

(8) If there is the last date for a function, drama, contest, etc., it must be clearly mentioned.

(9) Notice usually announces upcoming events/celebrations so future time is used while writing a notice.

(10) It should have the name, designation and signature of the issuing authority for example- the secretary/in-charge, etc.
