Ans. Grandfather bought Toto from a tonga-driver in five rupees. The tonga-driver kept the monkey tied to a feeding-trough. It looked so out of place there that grandfather decided he would add it to his private zoo.
2. ‘Toto was a pretty monkey.’ In what sense is Toto pretty?
Ans. Toto was a pretty monkey with bright eyes sparkling with mischief, pearly white teeth, quick and wicked fingers and a gracious tail which served as a third hand. His cute smile used to frighten elderly Anglo- Indian ladies.

Ans. Toto was a pretty
monkey. Grandfather bought him from a Tonga-driver in five rupees. Toto was a pretty monkey with bright eyes,
white teeth, quick fingers and a gracious tail which served as a third
hand. His cute smile used to frighten elderly Anglo- Indian ladies. At first, Toto was kept in a little store. It
opened into the narrator’s bedroom. Here Toto removed the wallpaper and tore
the narrator’s school blazer. Now Toto was transferred to grandfather’s private
zoo. Here monkeys did not allow the animals to sleep. Toto
takes bathe in warm water. One day he
threw the plate and broke it into pieces. So Grandfather sold him back
to the Tonga-driver.
